Latest ATM News: American Tech Manufacturing Merges with Trigon AdcoTech

November 1, 2001. Santa Clara, CA

The business and assets of Trigon Adcotech have been merged into American Tech Manufacturing, Inc. (ATM) - the combined Fremont, California-based company will continue to trade under the name of American Tech Manufacturing, Inc.

Founded in 1971, ATM developed the first DIP lead straightener to meet the demands of the electronics industry. Today, ATM is still a leader in this field incorporating many design concepts that have been both patented and field proven. In addition, these products have set standards for speed, accuracy, versatility and above all, reliability, unmatched in the industry. With a worldwide customer base, ATM manufactures and sells a complete range of automated, high quality, reliable component scanning and conditioning equipment for most component styles including SOP, DIP, SOJ, PLCC and PGA.

Trigon Adcotech was formed when Dynatech made a decision to merge Adcotech with Trigon in 1988. In 1994, Dynatech sold the assets of Trigon Adcotech to private parties. Today Trigon Adcotech operates a cost effective R &D and manufacturing facility in Fremont, California and sells a range of test handlers and marker/dryer systems.

Completion of this merger will result in a number of benefits for both ATM and Trigon Adcotech customers and employees at a time when the semiconductor equipment industry is in the most severe downturn in its history:

  • Addition of the Trigon Adcotech products complements ATM's traditional equipment; these new test handlers and marker/dryers also add the possibility of more integration with ATM products
  • Manufacturing and engineering will operate out of the Fremont, CA premises
  • Sales, service, administration and spare parts inventory will be located in Fremont, CA
  • All older ATM, Trigon and Adcotech products will continue to be supported
  • Capital injection by the new owners who understand both the rapid, new product time-to-market needs and the cyclic nature of the semiconductor industry will result in a substantial increase in product development activities
  • All products will be sold through current ATM national and international sales and service locations ensuring continued, high quality customer support. An aggressive marketing plan will be implemented to add sales and service support in territories currently without coverage

ATM's chairman, Paul Gillespie commented "Both ATM and the Trigon and Adcotech companies have been designing and manufacturing back end semiconductor equipment for nearly 30 years. With our industry on the road to recovery in the first half of 2002, our combined product line puts us in a much stronger position with our customers. We are absolutely committed to the future and look forward to providing both current and new, innovative products to semiconductor manufacturers for many years to come."
